THE FARM

Project overview:

Set within Al Barari's botanical sanctuary in Dubai, The Farm is a restaurant designed to let the landscape do most of the talking. The architecture works in restraint — clean lines, open spaces, large windows, a palette of timber and stone — so that the surrounding green stays in the foreground.

The defining move is a sequence of elevated structures the studio calls Flying Platforms — detached cabins that hover gently above the landscape, holding each table within the trees. They host quiet dinners and public events with equal ease, the program flexing while the experience stays the same: a table among branches.

The Farm has held its audience for years; the menu has stayed largely the same, and the tables remain fully booked. Its design was honoured with the Encouragement Award in Arts by Egypt's Supreme Council for Culture — a restaurant in service of the place that holds it.
